Failure. The mere thought can paralyze even the most heroic thinkers and keep great ideas off the drawing board. But is failing really that bad? We get an inside look at the mishaps of Honda racers, designers and engineers to learn how they draw upon failure to motivate them to succeed. From poor color choices to blown race engines, these risk-taking individuals provide an honest look at what most people fear most. Watch the film and discover the upside of failure.

View more stories after the jump.

Mobility 2088:

Ever since the dawn of man, mobility has been central to our growth and freedom as a civilization. There have always been places to go and people to see, greener pastures, bluer skies and undiscovered lands. But what about the future of mobility? We ask some of the great thinkers of our generation how people will get around in 80 years. From the hope of hydrogen to the dream of space exploration, these futurists, scientists, artists and forward-thinkers ponder the possibilities of future transportation. Watch and see if youre ready for the surprises the experts are predicting.

Kick Out the Ladder:

Honda invites you to discover this inspirational metaphor that has helped impossible dreams come true. Join our cinematic journey and unearth this unique way of advancing—from Honda associates who have kicked out the ladder, as well as those who have achieved success as a result of it. Watch this Honda philosophy in action, and learn the meaning behind it.

Those of you who are thinking “Well, HA! Jason I get my news from Google” or some other online news outlet you’re gonna love the last minute or so of this video. Basically the whole premise boils down to it is cheaper to cover Britney Spears then put news headquarters in third world countries.

Why am I writing about this? Well I guess you could say this is something that keeps me up at night. Our country is deeply under feed when it comes to world news and the tidbits we get are picked and chosen for us. It’s one of the reasons I decided to start blogging here and in general. We have to start learning about whats going on around the world because as Thomas L. Friedman says, “The world is flat” by that I believe he means we’re absolutely connected and things that happen in other countries they don’t take long to have an effect on us.

They’ve actually got a lot more to do with life in the forest then we previously knew and with that knowledge I think regeneration can happen a lot faster and easier then before.

Jay Leno’s green renovation of his garage has come a long way. He’s added some new parts washers, replaced some aerosol cans and big solar array. Leno even talks about adding more solar panels even though he generates more power then the garage needs to operate during the day.

They run the Heart Institute at 1/10th the cost of what similar facilities run in the United States and best of all they don’t turn anyone away. Dr. Madu welcomes those at TED and I’m sure anyone watching with the means to follow him to Africa to continue building facilities like these.

This man and his group of outside of the box thinkers are going to create great change. I cannot wait to see what they do in Africa for the people who so deserve it.

I hope you take the time to watch the video above it is a great look into a successful program going on in Norway to reconnect inmates with life and respect. The prison governor is a very intelligent man and realized if you give the prisoners a good way to earn respect and treat them like people they tend it is much easier for them to integrate back into society. He has successfully rehabilitated inmates which most of the American worlds prisons fail to do everyday by giving his prisoners a way to work and connect with animals as well as create their own food these prisoners are learning to respect life, gain trust and a sense of living.

Everybody needs a sense of pride and programs like this give these men the sense that it can be earned by honest means. We truly need more programs like this in the world because it is abundantly clear that keeping men and women in over crowded cages is not a good way to make an honest person out of them.

Of course to me the fact that they are going about this in an eco-friendly way gives me hope that these men are being taught to respect their surrounding as well as the people around them. The solar power generation is a great step for prisons and I think more and more tax payer supported facilities should be implementing solar or wind power if the location allows for it. The money savings would be huge and the money saved could be directed at running these types of programs.

He shows amazing passion and personality in all his presentations including the one I hope to share with you.

At Chrysler’s St. Louis Assembly Plant in Missouri Chrysler is putting paint over spray to work in an innovative and green way. The paint over spray is collected by a pool of water under the paint booth. The water is then drained leaving behind mush of paint over spray that is loaded into a truck and taken down to the nearby power plant to be mixed with coal to be burned to create power. This process offsets about 570 tons of coal a year and another cool byproduct of the mixture is that the titanium oxide used in the paint rids the coal of the trace amounts of mercury that would other wise be released into the air.

Bill Clinton made a great wish in front of the TED conference and that wish was for help developing, “high quality rural health system for the whole country” of Rwanda. Well, AMD, Nokia, and SUN Microsystems stepped up and joined the Clinton Foundation, Partners In Health, and the Rwanda Government to make this wish a reality. Money was raised, technology was and is being developed, and the dream is on its way to fruition. Congratulations to the Government of Rwanda, the Clinton Foundation, AMD, Nokia, and SUN Microsystems for setting out and making great steps towards an amazing goal. I think the TED Conference deserves a great big congratulations as well for putting people who care and have the resolve to get these kind of projects started and moving in the right direction.

An amazing show of just how powerful wind can be. Nature had the last laugh in this video as the brakes on the Windmill failed and the power generator was destroyed in a quite spectacular manor. I hope they can salvage some parts those Windmills don’t come cheap.
