Interesting finds of the weekend

News, Opinion

As most of you know already I spend a lot of time on the computer mostly at night because of my lack of ability to sleep very well.  So, I end up finding lots of interesting things to read and watch on the internet.  I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve found with you.

The TimesOnline thought they’d “Reveal” how much a Google search impacts the environment.

Google responds with a well drawn out reply detailing the actual power usage and CO2 output.

I found that San Antonio’s Northside Independent School Disctrict offered a class called “Build or Remodel Green” and registered for it in a heart beat.

Mike Rowe gives a talk about Dirty Jobs and what he’s learned about working class Americans.  He also talks about how current culture belittles the working class and talks about his new PR campaign for work. If you have only 20 minutes and are gonna click on one of these links pick this one.

PLUG: I got the EcoInsomniac online store rockin’ and rollin’! We’re adding to it as we find new true eco-friendly items.

GM is building a huge lab for the study battery technology.  They will allow battery manufacturers to bring products and have GM test them for free of charge and they will receive a full report on GM’s findings.

The new 2010 Toyota Prius will be bigger, longer, strong and still get better gas mileage.  Too bad no PHEV just yet, but that’s still in the plans.

We’ve been compiling a list of recycling programs in some of the bigger cities around the country.  If you’ve got links to your cities recycling program that we don’t have listed please contact us.

I hope you enjoyed the smattering of links and I invite you to share some of your recently found green links with me either by comment below or on Twitter @EcoInsomniac and I will check them out and probably share them with others.  Hope you’re having a great New Year!

There’s a lot of doubt surrounding which methods/products are truly sustainable and which are just green washing. Check out our myth-busting video “What’s Your Big Green Lie?!” which gives a taste of the widespread ignorance of green issues including those surrounding the beloved hybrid car at http://www.biggreenlies.com.
