In board rooms, war rooms, meetings halls and cafeterias all around the world corporations are discussion Global Warming or at the very least they’re talking about the environment. These global companies are trying to figure out ways to make a smaller environmental impact on the world. It’s a monetarily expensive ordeal to undertake with all the analysts, gurus and auditors involved. In the long run though it’s completely worth it in my eyes for older companies to take a step back and look at what they’re doing to their surroundings and to the health of their very customers.

Hiring outside help isn’t necessarily the only thing corporations can do though. Joining an online community like OpenEco is a great way for corporations around the world to quantify their green house emissions with others in their industry. OpenEco is 100% free thanks to Sun Microsystems sponsorship and provides businesses with easy to use tools to track, assess and compare their energy performance and share proven strategies to reduce green house gas emissions. More features are being added in the near future and will extend its reach from your building to your fleets.

I am glad that Sun Microsystems and it’s partners at OpenEco have stepped up and provided a free and easy to use tool set for corporations to not only see their own numbers, but compare and learn from others about what they can do to reduce their impact on the environment.

They’ve been up to some pretty cool stuff lately you’re right about that. Have you seen any examples of what you’d call good stuff lately though?
