Kimpton Hotel’s the owner of Hotel Palomar has implemented their EarthCare program on Hotel Palomar. What does this mean for guests? A luxurious stay at a great hotel with less of an impact on the earth.

Hotel Palomar now provides:
  • Recycle bins in every room
  • Energy efficient lighting
  • Water saving fixtures
  • Organic food and drink options in the mini-bars

At $300 a night, they’re out of my price range these days, but I may spring for it someday. Kimpton Hotel’s does a lot to reduce its impact on our world behind the scenes as well. Guests are encouraged to not send towels to be washed daily in order to save soap, energy and water. All corporate corrisponce are printed using soy based inks on recycled paper. They also go through efforts to keep their energy uses down to a minimum with energy audits and energy efficient lighting. A recycling program is also in effect where they recycle all of the glass, paper, plastic, and cardboard that is used to keep their hotel running. Bottles that can be reused are donated to local charities so that they can be put to use.I get the feeling that they’ve done a little more then jump on the bandwagon o’ green as many hotels have as of late. So, if I’m ever out in California for any reason I’ll be sure to at least try to see a tour on how it all works. It’s not so hard to be actually green and I hope more hotels follow suit. How about carbon offsets? A tree planting program for each guest or for every $100 spent on the final bill? Just a few ideas guys contact me if you need help finding a non-profit to work with you I can help you if you need it.
