Bottled water vs tap water has been an on going debate for years and is likely to keep on going.  Sadly, with the new about trace amounts of drugs being found in tap water supplies across the country another group of uneducated bottle water drinkers will emerge.  I don’t mean to say no educate person would dare drink bottled water.  What I mean is that these people will switch from tap to bottled water without knowing that most of today’s best selling bottled water is, for the most part, just tap water with a screw on cap.   This means if your bottled water was bottled in an area who has a trace amount of a drug in the water supply it is just as likely that your bottle of water has the same stuff in it as water from your kitchen sink.Still worried about your tap water and this highly publicized media coverage of drugs in tap water?  Well, for now fix it at your tap by adding an active carbon filter that has been proven to remove many chemicals and unwanted things from water.  I don’t believe it’s ever been tested to remove drugs from water, but it won’t hurt it and chances are it’ll help.  You can get your water tested by calling your water utility company and asking them where your local lab is located.  Just take a sample from your tap and take it to the lab.  They’ll be able to tell you what if anything is going on with your water and if you’re safe to drink it.We should get rid of bottled water all together anyway.  We generate absolutely ridiculous amounts of waste by tossing empty bottles into the garbage.  Just grab a thermos or something reusable and washable and pour in some filtered tap water and carry that around instead of paying $2 for a bottle of water.
