The plastics company Sintex is aiming to take human waste, kitchen waste from your home to your own personal power plant using bacteria in its specially designed digesting dome. The process creates methane gas which can then be used to create electricity or gas for cooking. The company is planning to use this technology to take out the sanitation and energy problems facing the quickly developing and extremely populated country of India. A family sized version of this digesting dome will run about $425 and will pay for itself in less then two years.. The government has stepped in and said they will subsidize the cost which currently is too high for the average Indian about a third of Sintex’s product to make them more available to its citizens.

I have read a lot about this recently, it seems to be the ‘new thing’. I hope it actually works and can be roled out full scale, it will be a great way of generating a sustainable electric supply.
